I just added a NEW Photo Tour by Peter Eades. What some awesome bucks. Take a look at the pics .... CLICK RIGHT HERE

How wide is this buck? And what do you think he'd gross score? Would you hunt him?

I would have to guess right at 25 for an inside spread. He may be 26. Left beam swings out more than the right. I am estimating about 178 on score. He has a great right front but nothing special for a left front. Brows are average. Beams as best I can tell seem average. I could change my mind if I saw a side view. From this pic he actually doesn't look very old to me. Ears are very sharp and clean and the face looks very petite. Could just be the pose. I could change my mind on that if I saw him standing from a couple of different angles. If he looked fully mature I would chase him. If I was right and he is just a fine looking four year old I might let him go.

28" Outside, 24" Inside, 176 gross

33" outside, 27" inside, 192" gross. His inside spread alone is 33% bigger than his ear's. Unless this is a Calif Muley, then take 15-20% off all my estimates.

That buck has very small ears. I would put him at about 28" wide and scoring in the mid 180s.

There's always next year

Founder, I believe that is your basic 30" 180 Buck that aren't so basic and ever not so common.

More than that though is how Beautiful of rack this guy is carrying. I shoot that buck in a moment on any hunt that i could see myself ever hunting. He's a keeper!!! Thanks!

Beautiful photo of a beauty buck! I agree with Sage, he's all of 30 and 180. He's one of those bucks that would make you sick if you pass on him.

"Whatever happened to the scoring contest on MM?"

Sure! You had to go and bring that up? lol

The second season, on a 1-10, My buck scoring was a -1 :)

I like it better when my opinion can't be proven right or wrong. ;-)

Founder, shoot that buck you get a chance. He's a purdy Son of Gun!!

Two years ago, I almost passing up on a legitimate 200" typical because he didn't look very wide. (He was only 27" wide) When sanity set in and I killed him I was blown away when we put a tape on him. (clean 195" net)
I'm now pretty shy about passing purdy typicals!
I'd say he's closer to 190 than 180, but then what do I know? I almost let a Booner walk! LOL

I am no good at scoring antlers, but...

If his ear tip to tip is just 16" in that position (which I am sure they are) then that buck is 24" inside and 31" outside. I'd shoot (at) that gorgeous typical buck in a heartbeat!

26 wide. Mid 170s.
Why do you guys even look at outside spread. It don't count for squat.

>I'm going to say that he
>is at least 36" and
>215" gross. His inside
>spread is 31". That's if
>his ears are considered 22"
>tip to tip.

I hope your kidding. Lol.

SilverEagle, I'd like you to swing by and tell me what you think of some of mine! :)

Dear disbelievers,
With much respect I make my case. My calculation is very scientific.
I am simply figuring the ratio of a known measurement (ears) and the number of pixels across those ears. Then I figure the number of pixels of any segment of a bucks antlers and multiply it by the ratio.
My experience with mature bucks is they will average 22" to 24" across the ears. And the outside of the eyes across the forehead is typically 8" inches with each ear being about that length also. The buck above has small ears so two 7" ears and an 8" forehead comes to 22".

It would of been ridiculous of me to estimate 24" ears since my formula makes that beast 40" wide!!!!!!

SilverEagle,
I think your really off on this one. Like I said before, that buck has very small ears. Like 16-18". I try to never judge a bucks width by it's ears, rather than the air space between it's antlers. Also, a bucks forehead is closer to 5" than 8" wide. I'm sure that buck is closer to 26" wide than 36".But that's just MHO.

SilverEagle, Hey more power to you! You might be right and he certainly asked for opinions so yours is as good as any.

Myself, I can't see anything outa this buck more than 32" outside and 190 gross. Even that is more than i think he is but i'll say again, i'd shoot that SOB in a heartbeat!! :)

No worries, Live and learn is the key.
I think he is close to that 28 inside high 180's

He's around 32" wide. Definitely over 30, no question. Probably scores mid-180s. Would I hunt him? Well I only hunt hard horned bucks so I would have to let him walk...until the velvet is gone at least.
