I have been drawn for general a rifle deer hunt in Northern Arizona's unit 19b over the last week of October and into the first week of November.

I have never hunted this area before, and I am hoping someone has some experience (both good and bad are welcome) to share with a noob to the area. I am hoping to find out issues related to public access, water hole locations, roads, fire/flood damage, successful hunts within the area, and obviously any info on local deer populations throughout the area as its a very large game unit.

Any and all info including things I did not list above is welcome.

First 2 places I'd check are: 1-AZF&G website unit game review. 2-MM archives. We based our last elk hunt totally on the unit reviews and did great. Bumped into many folks while there that didn't even bother to do this! After burning 10 points!

Much of Unit 19B has been lost to ranch closures. Possibly the best remaining area is along the west boundary from about Road 5 south to Walnut creek. Much of this is on Prescott Nat'l Forest land open to public access. There is some walk-in to make it interesting. Some decent bucks have come out of this area but I wouldn't be too selective. Deer meat from this area taste pretty good.
