I scored a late tag. Any areas you strip guys wanna share? Its a diy hunt for me, cant aford a guide. Ill probably get one maybe two scout trips in after my sept 23n bull hunt.any tips would realy go along ways. Sure ide love a monster for my first buck but would be happy with a recpectable 4x4.

I have the same tag, congrats. If all you are looking for is a respectable 4x4, you should have no problem filling that tag.

12AW late is not the AZ Strip.....it's the Kaibab. It's been a decent hunt the last few years.....reportedly better than the East side. You'll want to check the fringe areas where bitterbrush meet oaks / juniper in the lower country. You should see plenty of deer.

Pray for snow

Pray for an early rut

Take optics, and use them

You will see dozens of deer, maybe hundreds, each day

You will see 20" 4X4s daily, if you want a big one, pass on the small ones.

A monster buck could be anywhere. Hunt high in the pines, and low in the sage flats.

Drive carefully, there are some large dirt roads that get kind of crazy just before dawn. Think NASCAR with big pickups.

Nascar with trucks. Ill be in my f350 with 6 inch lift driveing like a old lady. Have optics ,packs all that. Any roads i should focuse my first scout trip around. I hear if it snows hunt low.2 years back in 12bw i was standing at the truck after the pack out with shirt off.way hot.any perdictions on this years weather up there?

Come on fellas no areas to check out in 12aw? Its not like its a ez tag to pull. I am prepared to go blind with only one maybe two scout trips . My v10 f350 is going to kill me in gas comeing from tempe az. So if ya guys got some areas i should look into feal free to pipe on in plz. Im just a average guy that dreamed for a kiabab tag and actualy drew one go figure. Only jad 2 bogus points to boot. So speak up guys. Have a good one.

Bohntr,

Actually the Kaibab is located in the az strip. The az strip is the strip of az in between the Colorado river and Utah. Usually when people say the strip they are referring to 13 a and b, but it does include the 12 units.

Airmark,

Send me a pm I would be glad to give you some areas to look at.

Thanks,
Michael

Airmark save your time and gas until right before the hunt. I'll be up on that hunt helping my best friend again this year. The deer won't be anywhere near where they are before the hunt. If you want to just learn some areas a little check out sowat's point. From the rim to the point is all good country. It's a great hunt but be prepared to run into 10,000 people helping out up there! Or you can just take a radio and scan until a spotter blurts out a location to a monster! That's probably the best advice I've got! Lol

I just call em as I see em!

Oh don't tell me the circus has overflowed the strip and onto the Kaibab. What a downer.

Good luck Airmark I'm looking to draw that tag myself in a few years. Post up if you're successful!
