LAST EDITED ON Sep-01-13 AT 04:49PM (MST)[p]I haven't spent as much time scouting this year as I would like but I did get out for a three day backpack trip and a few glassing sessions here and there. The best buck I have found is moving through my property every evening on his way to feed in my neighbors field. I would like to give him another year or two as I think he would become something special but the neighbor is hunting him. So, would you hunt him?

The mountains, not the hills.

You live there & that's the Best Buck you can come up with?

No Doubt!

Somebody will shoot him!

I'd let that PISSCUTTER Grow up!

But that's probably not what's gonna happen!

Do you have a wall of fuzzy-horned 180" bucks already..??

If not, shoot that thing..!! Too many circumstances and too much time between now and next season...

I saw this buck again tonight and got a couple more pics of him. Even though he will probably die in muzzle loader season I think I am going to hunt elsewhere.

The solution is easy. Bribe a fish cop or biologist (not to hard to do nowadays) for a tranquilizer gun, and dart his ass. Cut his horns off. (They are hard now so it will be alright). And there you go. He lives until next year.

Simple.

Perhaps your neighbor is concerned that if HE doesn't hunt him, then you or someone else will. Talk to the man and make your case that he is worth giving another year. Perhaps he will agree. You have nothing to lose, especially if you have decided to hunt elsewhere this time around. As for the decision on who will hunt him next year, Good Luck.

It's nice to see a buck outside your window like that. The hunters around my house shoot any legal buck. So enjoy as long as you can and save it for another year.

I'm not one for telling my grandson how big of turd I had to pinch off from having to eat so much meat. I want to give him the antlers that hang from my wall and tell him the unforgettable experience that came with each and every one.

Why wait? Do you think he's going to grow a better set of antlers? Looks like a very mature buck to me. Not every deer will grow more bone with age! I'd even be willing to say he'd be around this same size next year.

I just call em as I see em!

Talk to the neighbor, maybe he will wait too.
I don't think he is at his peak, once he loses that velvet he is going to have nearly no mass at all, very very thin.
I like mass, so I'd prefer to wait..

Let me guess, you drive a 1 ton with oak trees for smoke stacks, 12" lift kit and 40" tires to pull a single place lawn mower trailer?

I agree mntman. I could deal with him being narrow but add in him being willow horned and I have to pass. The good thing is I found a better buck in the high country yesterday.

I would love to talk the neighbor into letting him go this year but he is convinced we can't manage our deer because they will be killed elsewhere during rifle. Plus it's all about the money with him:(

Yes during ML and rifle that busk would be a target,
So what your address. LOL
I will be up there during rifle.

He's the best archery buck I've taken and I couldn't be happier with him!

Good choice, plus the one in the mountains gave you a better "experience" :)

Yes, this buck was a much better "experience", including a three mile pack out with his head, cape and all of his meat that had me wondering why I didn't hunt that hay field:)

"Wish I could see the Background a little better!"

Being by myself and not wanting to damage his velvet I wasn't able to drag him out for kill photo's with the incredible background, but I did get this one once I got him down to the basin floor.
