Bookscliffs Help!!

My 15 year old nephew drew a muzzleloader tag with only one point! I didn't draw anything, even if I did I would turn it in to go with him. We are pretty excited!

Our original plan was to camp on top, but looking at the weather report, we are second guessing out plan and looking for a place to camp midway North side of the slope. Looking at the map, it looks like the McCook Ridge road goes about where we want to be.

Has anyone been on this road and can tell me more about it. Are there camp sights along the way? Does it connect with Seep Ridge road and would that be the best place to get on it.

Is there anywhere else you would recommend setting up?

Thank you so much for any help you can give us!

I'm not sure how the McCook Ridge road is with weather. It is one of the main roads so I imagine it would be pretty good. Seep ridge road is the best way to get to it. I believe the indian ridge road connects the the two. There are hundres of places to camp on the lower portion of McCook. I don't remember the upper half good enough to know on places to camp.

It should be a great area to start. With the muzzloader, be prepared to move around if you are not into the deer. Once you find them you will know it.

Hope this helps a little. I hope more chime in for you.

That is exactly the insight I needed. Thank-you very much! Hopefully we'll have some pics to share when we get back.

I camped about 200 yards from the junction of McCook and Indian Ridge Rd last year on the rifle hunt. Lots of camping on the lower end of McCook but don't overlook India Ridge rd. Lots of camping there and it gets you closer to Seep Ridge Rd in case you need to travel around a bit in order to find them.

Good luck and let us know how you do.

the sheep ridge road is the easy way turn on indian ridge the junction to McCook the McCook road goes all the way around to the divide back down sheep ridge road or you can take a left at the divide head down atchee it is a great place to camp you can get to the top or big park from McCook road good luck

Don't go on the Indian ridge road pulling a trailer cause the road is almost washed out in sweet water going to mcCook as of last week.

I'd camp on the Indian ridge road. Seep ridge is paved to the Indian Ridge Rd. turn off. I wouldn't try to pull a very big trailer through Sweetwater
