Now THAT is what it is all about. I would much rather see him on the hoof, framed by fall foliage than flat on his back surrounded by a gaggle of geeks. Which is not to discount the value of a good buck on the ground--it is just that this makes a far better picture.

Thanks for the comments guys. I've really enjoyed talking pictures this year almost as much as I've enjoyed the actual attempt to harvest an animal. Pictures give me something that I can enjoy the rest of the year. They're great reminders of how blessed we are to live where we do and enjoy the things available to us!

Great picture! The last time I saw colors that vibrant with red and orange, it wasn't foliage they were flames. I like your picture way more and love the dark horns on that buck.
