Well this hunt started out pretty good, saw three or four good bucks but couldn't get close enough to get a shot off. I made her pass on a lot of small fours and one pretty big three (160 class). the days went by and we started seeing less deer and ended up killing this buck the last day we were there. Long story short I should have let her kill the big three. My bad, I guess I was making her be too picky, I told her not too shoot and boom!! I guess she was sick of passing up deer. We had a blast, but the books are not what they used to be from stories I was told.

Being too picky could make her not hunt, You need to let her choose which buck is right for her(NEXT TIME).

That a good buck to take out of the gene pool. He will be a good taste one.

Congrats to Mrs. Shedhead! Way to get it done with a smokepole. As life goes on you will cherish the memories of having a fun enjoyable time on the mountain with family more than the number of inches on a bucks head.

Going home empty handed last year on a wasatch tag has made my wife all but quit hunting. Looking back, I should have let her shoot a few bulls.... Sounds like she made a great call. Congrats!!

I hate hearing that someone's spouse should've "let" them shoot something. If they're genuinely out there because they love hunting and not just because their spouse wants them out there, then they should choose when to pull the trigger and shouldn't be told not to.

For the record, you're lucky your wife wants to hunt with you.

She looks happy as punch in the pic, and though everyone wants to kill a giant, not everyone can. Luck doesn't always play into your hunt. Tell your wife congrats on what sounds like a fun hunt as a couple. And congrats on taking a beautiful animal.

That thing has a beautiful cape. Are you going to mount her deer..?? If not, did you save the cape..?? I know someone who buys a few capes every year to mount sheds and such... If you're interested.

Sounds like the wife "Gets It". Passing a 160 3 Point on the Books, Crazy. They need to be hunters before they are "Trophy" hunters in my opinion.

That's a good deer with the muzzy. I would like to of seen your face when she dropped the hammer. It was good enough for her and that's what really matters. Congrats to you guys on a successful hunt.
