Disabled hunter puts the smack down on a big buck

My best friend Jeff was the lucky hunter who drew the New Harmony CWMU. Sixteen years ago he was involved in a roll over that left him paralyzed from the neck down. Jeff is very passionate about the outdoors. After his accident he wasn't going to let that stop him from doing what he loves. Since 2007 he has taken three bucks this years being his biggest and best buck. Even though he is paralyzed from the neck down he can pull the trigger on his gun. On October 10th around 7:10 pm this buck came into range and Jeff made a sweet shot that dropped this buck in his tracks.

This hunt will be one of my most memorable hunt. I am glad I was able to be part of it. It's not easy getting Jeff set up to hunt. So a huge thanks to the operator of the new harmony cwmu. They are class act guys, their time setting this up for Jeff made it all come together. Without their help I don't know how this season would have turned out.

WOW. I just want to say congrats to the lucky hunter. Also to all the people involved. You guys are truly awesome. That is an absolute amazing job in doing everything u could to help someone in need. I just wish there were more people out there that were as great as you guys. I do not know you and probably will never get to see or meet you but again as a fellow hunter that's what it's all about right there. HELPING EACH OTHER. Thx for the pic and the story. Amazing.

I'm not sure if Aaron is aware of this great offer, so I sent him a text. Hopefully he will chime in soon. Aaron is a selfless outdoorsman. I first met him several years ago, after asking for help on a cow hunt, right here on Monster Muleys. I had been out of state all year, and even though I knew the unit, I hadn't been on it all year. Aaron offered to help, even though he didn't know me. He showed up at my house the next morning and we went and killed an elk. He helped with the packout, and did most of the work. I was very sick, I'd been at sea level for months, and the altitude was really hurting me. Since then we've been on many hunts together. In my mind he is a standup guy, and this awesome post shows it.

I talked to Jeff last night and he wanted to convey his appreciation for all that helped make this hunt happen. Aaron Martin is an outstanding individual that has gone out of his way the last few years to help Jeff get out and find bucks. In prior years Mark Stout provided the same unselfish acts and helped Jeff harvest two nice bucks. Unfortunately people like this, that go out of their way to help out others in need, are getting harder and harder to find. Fortunately, for us we crossed paths with both Aaron and Mark. Another huge thanks goes out to Matt Liston and his crew at the New Harmony CWMU. From the initial phone call, providing trail cam pictures and scheduling hunt dates he went above and beyond all of our expectations as a public hunter on his ranch. Lastly, everyone's kind words on this thread and Curtis Wilson's offer for taxidermy work gives one hope that maybe - really good folks are not that hard to find!
