Fellow hunters, I need some help here in Utah for a very deserving man. Some of you may remember the story of Tyler R. that was shot in the arm (rifle) in a freak accident in Colorado just about a year ago now. He is healing up, but still not ok to pull a bow back, per the doctor. Bone is just not healed enough to put that stress on it. He has interest in getting back on the horse (hunting horse)and has an archery tag in hand. I'd like to get him up on the extended to hunt some rutting bucks!

Here is where I need some help. Buying a crossbow is not in the cards for Tyler given medical expenses he will be dealing with for some time. I'm looking for someone that can loan out or even donate a cross bow for Tyler to use for the next few weeks. I am sure we can get him a permit from the DWR with proper doctor signoff so he can hunt with it. I think the opportunity to rebuild his confidence and get to chase his favorite big game species would do wonders!

If you know of any organizations that could help as well, please help point me in the right direction. THanks!

PM me

Paul G.(BUL_KRZY)

Paul,
I have a crossbow your more than welcome to. It is a little dated but should work fine. Also if you are setting up a fund to help with the costs count me in.

I remember the story well but didn't hear whatever became of it. So was it deemed an accident and did they ever find the shooter??

Glad to know he's making progress with his recovery. I don't own a crossbow but if I did Tyler could have it. Good luck on your search.

If you post his Email, we could donate to his Paypal account. I think this is safe to do? Chime in experts. Lets help this guy get back in the high and wild! Tony

LAST EDITED ON Nov-15-13 AT 10:30PM (MST)[p]It was basically deemed an accident by default. No one ever has come forward to accept responsibility for their actions, and despite a nice reward, no one had information to come forward with either. I can't imagine living with that, but someone is and they know it. I was at the site of this tragic event again last week on basically the anniversary, again hunting deer. There is NO WAY whoever shot from the point they did, did not know what they had done. I'm convinced. I talked to the game warden that was first to respond and he said by the time they got there (not long after) that everyone in the area had scattered. They had a description of a white truck and that was about it. Pretty sad. Real men stand up and take accountability for what they have done. Good or bad.

I'm proud of guys like you that are willing to step up.

Tyler is like a brother to me. In that vein I can say I love him like a brother and would do anything for him and his wife and 3 kids. I hope to find a good way to get him back in the saddle and taking him back to archery (he is the one that got me into archery) is a perfect fit. He just can't pull back either of his Mathews bows YET. Need to get him outfitted and while late to the game here I hope to do so to give him an opportunity.

Another guy( Thank you Corey!) from the Basin called today and offered up a cross bow for borrow as well. AWESOME! If we can find something closer to Salt Lake/Davis County quick we will stay closer to save time, if not then we'll figure out how to get one borrowed.

I'm sure Tyler, maybe his dad as well, is going to read this as they are both Muley fanatics. I know he reads up on all the fun here. That is ok - we're doing this for a brother we care so much about. Trust me, he is doing something for his brother-in-law that was seriously injured in a Ranger(UTV) accident a month ago that is WAY beyond this crossbow effort! Ty is a great man and deserves a bit of love.

I'll find out if he has a paypal account gents. I too want to get him back in the high and wild! I miss having my best hunting buddy and glassing fool with me.

I was able to find a great deal on a quality crossbow and have picked that up for him, but it needs some acccessories to get it hunt ready. Bolts(arrows), scope, etc.

DWR will approve his permit to use the crossbow with written letter from his doctor. Working that now.

Thanks for all the calls and help. Tyler is stoked to get up on the hill in the coming weeks with rutting bucks and some good weather for hunting. I hope to post some pics of him with a respectable 'Front buck!

Thanks again - Paul
