Canyon's First Buck-NV 192

My son and I were lucky enough to draw 192 this year. It's my sons first year to hunt and he was fortunate enough to shoot a buck antelope in WY this year. We were unfortunate to not see any buck deer to shoot on that hunt. I was rather disappointed so I talked with him a lot about harvesting a buck on this NV trip. We talked about what he'd be ok killing and he told me anything bigger than a forked horn.
We arrived to Topaz Lake Thursday afternoon and got camp set up. I wanted to hunt above Topaz Lake so we headed up the dirt road. We came across this buck standing behind a bush and he must've thought he was hidden. With the naked eye, I could see that he had antlers and at 110 yards I knew it would fit Canyons criteria as a shooter. He got in the prone position and he found him in the scope. I asked if he was on him and his reply was, "When do you want me to shoot?" I told him to shoot when he was ready. It wasn't but a second that I got the buck in my binoculars and the shot went off. The buck was barely quartering to us and he lunged forward after the shot. His next step I could see his front, right leg was of no use. It was a perfect shot. He went about 40 yards and piled up. We were very excited. The cool thing is that my Dad was on this hunt with us as well. For Canyon, it was a quick hunt but we're very glad he shot this buck. We hunted another 3 1/2 days and only saw a small fork and a tiny spike.
I'll be heading back next weekend to try to fill my tag. Here are a few pictures of Canyons buck.
I'm doing a Euro mount for him. I've never done one but its boiled already.....just need to bleach it. Pics to come of that when its done.

But by GAWD it don't take long for them U-Tards to get there with all the Unethical BS and the New Technology!

Congrats to the young hunter. I took my kids for little drive from home (Tahoe) over Monitor down to Topaz for lunch and we were surprised to see so many deer at the very top still, both Cali and Nv. side. Great buck for your son and hope you get one next weekend!

Awesome! Fun with 3 generations together :)

Fyi- don't use bleach. Go to a local salon supply store and buy the 40% hydrogen peroxide for hair work. Mix that with water and let it turn your skull white. Bleach eats away at the bone even long periods after even after rinsing well...
Still turns it real white with the peroxide.

Let me guess, you drive a 1 ton with oak trees for smoke stacks, 12" lift kit and 40" tires to pull a single place lawn mower trailer?

mntman- Yes...I know. My wife has done hair for 23 years. :) I get it for free. LOL
