I was at Sportsmans Warehouse the other day, and saw a pic of a hunter(term used loosely) with his buck. On the pic he had printed, "shot at 122 yards, never took a step"

A Few Years I was watching a Feather Flipper in an LE Unit try a 175 Yard Shot!

He looks around, then looks around some more, thinks He's safe, practically 45's an Arrow at the Bull,I watched the whole thing go dawn,WAFJ!

You Guys Ain't gonna like my 150 Yard Pin are ya?

Been practicing out to 200 yards!!! 122 yards is a chip shot.

"Courage is being scared to death but saddling up anyway."

these shots are definitely realistic, especially with the newest technology in todays bow hunting world.my buddy just smoked a nice buck at 120 yards with a pass through shot.i am hooked on it and cant wait to start grouping my arrows at 100 yrds myself.its funny how they have long range shot shows on the outdoor channel and people are buying into the scopes and guns to do it themselves,i guess its ok if you like longe range shooting just like some of us like the idea of well long range shooting. have fun

LOOK! There is a good looking piece of fried Chicken just hanging there from a string!

I get enough guys pissed at me as it is, i'll pass!

I think its a drumstick to boot! MMMM

Sit tall in the saddle, hold your head up high, keep your eyes fixed to where the trail meets the sky...

I think the wind just blew and now the drum stick moved, I can't see it! Who cares i'll still throw an arrow in that direction cause I've got a beef stick the size of a baseball bat with something to prove!

HMMMHMMM ME HAVE NEW BOW, ME BIG TOUGH INDIAN ROBIN HOOD APACHE, ME SHOOT BOW WITHOUT REGARD FOR UNCONTROLLABLE FACTORS, ME BANG CHEST WHEN HIT ANIMAL THEN GO HUNGRY FROM LOOSING ANIMAL, GO FIND MORE ANIMAL TO SHOOT TILL I CAN POST TRIUMPHANT PIC ON INTERNET FORUM BRAGGING ABOUT KILL!

Yes, I know these shots are doable, but your buddy isn't gonna tell you about the other bucks, running around with arrows in their ass or neck, or nose, because those bucks took ONE step as he pulled the release. But those bucks don't matter cause he got the one at 120 yards.

you make a good point yelum,im sure this exact scenario has happened in both worlds of hunting, guns and arrows!joey, there are probably are people who dont give a hoot, but im glad to say im not one of them! i have always liked sages caption at the bottom of his posts, its about knowing your own personal limitations.have fun

I'm not arguing your abilities, or limitations, as I have friends that ruteenly drill the plate at 100 yards. Heck, I enjoyed launcheing bullets at 400-500 yard targets and could get into long range shooting. But there is a big differnce between bullet and arrow air time, and ones ability cannot control what the animal does in that extra air time, no matter how many times they drill a plate. This kid in the glory photo had no clue he put an arrow in buck the previous day, just bragging about how far he can fling one. I'd rather hear a guy brag about stalking that extra 100 yards with genuin hunting skills. Just me.

i completely agree with your views yelum! i just hate to see one knucklehead in a gloryshot photo, screwup the whole picture for those of us who do prefer shooting out to ethical limits.theres always gonna be one of him no matter what forum we choose to go to.

You also have to take into consideration that the target, whether it is a 100 yard archery target, or a 500 yard rifle target is not going to jump or move once you have touched off the shot. There is no way possible to be sure an animal doesn't or won't move. And if they do move even a few inches, a perfect shot can turn into a marginal or poor shot in a damn big hurry... And no animal deserves that. I agree with YELUM, that it takes more skill to close the distance and take a close shot. I respect those guys for their dedication and respect to the game they chase more so than the long range hunters. I know some people have the ability to take and make those shots, but none of them can honestly say they have the ability to make their quarry not move. But it is what it is, a part of hunting and we must do what is right to show to the non hunting community that hunters are the greatest conservationists on this earth.

What I (legally) do in the hunting field is my business and only my business....
***BUT***
What I do in the hunting field, when nobody is watching, is truly what seperates the sportsman from the non-sportsman!

'Tis better to err on the side of caution with any long range stuff. I prefer to think of myself as a sportsman, not just a killer.

Just my views,
Zeke
