On Meateater last night Steve Rinella shot a bull moose in BC. As he was walking up to it he could see it was not dead. He got a few feet away and it jumped up and charged him. It ended up running over his back somewhat. He initially said his gun did not go off but I am not so sure he did not just panic when it jumped up only few feet away. His buddy ended up killing it. It was some great footage and another well done show.

This should be in the top 5 rules of what to do after shooting an animal

have been wasted"

Or another way of putting it............make sure your cat is dead before petting. It could be the wrong cat.

It looked like Leroy!! I loved that cat.

Great post. In addition to not walking from the front on a shot animal I always try and approach from the higher ground rear of the game. I was taught by some great old timers that are all in the BC book that when you approach your game no matter the type of game. The Golden Rule is " if when you approach your game animal if their eyes are closed they are most likely NOT dead so shoot them again Right Now". Most animals when they are dead die with their eyes open....that's when you know for sure you have a dead animal.
