I am looking to get a new pair of Swarovski binoculars and I can't decide which is better. I really like the 10x42's because they are small and light but I also like the 15x56 for the distance. Can the 15x56 be used with out a tripod? I looked at them in Sportsman?s Warehouse but I did not take the 15x56 out side to try them out. What are everyone?s thoughts?

I have tried to hand hold 15x's with no luck at all, they are pretty much made for a tripod.

I have a pair of 15's, and use those for short and long distance. You can look for a little while with the 15's at long range, but the Bogen comes in handy for those long distances.
We were out in 6B this past weekend, and were looking at the elk across Roger's Lake, and the combination of the bino's and tripod, sure make a difference.
All in all, you are better off with a tripod when using the 15's if you are looking at long distances and glassing for awhile, etc.

I use the 10x42 and love 'em. But I also carry a spotter scope and break it out when necessary.

I have both pair. Love them both. The 15's are a little big to carry around especially in rough terrain hiking, etc; but would not trade them for the 10's at long distances. The 15's are way better for long distances if you want to see the tines. Both benefit greatly by using a tripod, not necessary, but definitely worth the extra cash. So depending on what you do, glass or hike more, depends on what I'd buy.
