Looking for backpacking tent

I'm new to the site and was hoping some of you could give some advice on some lite weight tents. I don't want to spend a lot and would like something light weight, around the 4 lb mark. I had a tent that I had my eye on but not sure how good it is. The one I was looking at was made by Eureka, the model is the Zeus EXO. It looks like a good tent and is inexpensive but I can't find seem to find anyone that knows if it's a good quality tent. Are there any other tents out there that would be better? Any help or advice would be awesome.

Thanks

Isnt' Zeus exo single wall? If so you'll get wet eventually. I took the rain fly approach and bought a 4 pounder (will post brand some time later as I can't recall and its packed for Thurs already. Just stay away from ones without rain fly. Rethinking it all, without a rain fly I'd just as soon buy a couple of lightweight tarps and tarp up with paracord. I'd save lots of weight and be just as dry.

The Zeus is a single wall tent, but no leaks in 2 years in some pretty serious storms. Has a tendency to get some condensation instead so you need to orient your tent to get as much draft going through it as possible. Still a very good tent for the money. I do carry a lightweigt 4 oz tarp just in case :)

I use one made by mountain hardware its called the PCT, I cant remember the weight its under four pounds though. It wasnt too expensive and Ive been happy with it so far. Take care and welcome to MM. Happy hunting!

Maybe condensation is worse here in TX. But any single wall tent I've ever been in has netted wet clothes, wet sleeping bag etc...... So much so that it drips off the roof and runs down the walls. After a week like that its miserable. I can only imagine in cold temps.

But I defer to the mountain folks. Still can't recall the brand of mine but it came from backcountry.com and was a good buy and performs well so far.

I should not have said leaks either. I was totally refering to condensation.

If I were going it alone I'd just buy a good bivy bag and a waterproof backpack or have a good cover for it. Add a lightweight tarp(like the flys are made of) and some para cord and you can dress even in the rain etc...

I ran across these and am quite interested as they look like a slick unit. Have a look and would love some feedback from some hunters on what they think of them. Looking at replacing a kelty I have. here is the website. www.tarptent.com
