That was Classic ElkAss. Just spit beer on my monitor.

Bad Bad stuff there, glad they caught him and 5 years jail time plus the fine seems appropriate.

None of those bucks looked that good to me, certainly nothing worth going to jail for. Hard to figure what the guy was thinking. What was his motivation for a crime spree like that?

Years ago, i had a Great Uncle that if anything like this was to happen, he'd have a standard statement, "he's on Dope that guy!"

Killing bucks out of season on their winter range is like winning a gold medal in the special Olympics and not being special. Class act!

This is a spin piece. They want us all to believe that the stiff sentences were for him being a poacher. The reality is this was a weapons case. A judge ain't going to put you in the pen for five years for killing some deer. A judge will hammer your a$$ if you have a firearms restriction and get caught with one. Judges don't like that stuff.

You're wrong Tristate, it is because there was a whitetail in that bunch. If it wasn't for killing that lone whitetail then with just those other scrub deer he would've got the standard punishment.

Let me guess, you drive a 1 ton with oak trees for smoke stacks, 12" lift kit and 40" tires to pull a single place lawn mower trailer?

There's a possibility he might have received a suspended sentence on some of that jail time. You never get the whole truth out of a news article. The guy deserves worse...

I have a lot of respect for game wardens and know some personally, but does that picture bother anyone but me? Some of those sh#@ eating grins and the way they all are so proud of their accomplishment, while all those bucks lay at their feet. Not a proud moment in my book. At least, not a moment for smiles.

Many, not all, G&F guys have a "LE only" mentality and crave the big take-down. They care less about the resource and more about the bust and are proud as peacocks to make an arrest!

You'd think they would be disgusted with all the poaching-death at their feet.

Zeke

PS: I'm glad the kid got stopped!

I have to disagree with a couple of critics of the photo. These guys have a dirty job when it comes to taking down poachers. Their reward at the end of a long investigation is always going to be a bunch of dead deer at their feet. If they aren't allowed to be pleased with one another in the moments they are successful in their investigations, then why pursue a career as a G&F Warden..??

They did their jobs, they did them well, and they should be allowed to smile about their accomplishment.
