I have hunted this unit for many many years with my family for elk and mule deer even back to the days when it was attached to unit 5B. I spend a lot of time up in that unit cutting firewood and just looking around. There are a lot of deer in that unit but in the last few years I have not seen as many jaw dropping monsters (160"+) that used to be there but they do exist. Every time I go out I see bucks and some that are very respectable deer (130"+). I can honestly say that I don't spent a lot of time in the northern part of the unit I like to be above the monastery in southern part of the unit the most. Deer are always around in that part of the unit. They usually spend the days cruising the edge of the sage brush opens up against the pinon timber fingers. I Hope that this can help you on your search for big a deer. Best of luck on your hunt and shoot straight!!!CJC
