Can anyone out there tell me a little about the deer hunting in this unit. My son and I drew a General Season Deer tag here. we had a hunt here about 7 years ago and saw some great deer and filled out tags with 24 inch four points.
Can anyone tell me where to start looking I know I am asking a lot but we don't have a lot of time to scout
We hunted around Gooseberry before

Try and make some time to scout around. If you've been there before, you should have a pretty good idea on where to go.

Good luck.

yes I have been there before I grew up in Utah as a kid and I am a transplant in California. We haven't been there since it was four zones, does it seem like there are more hunters there now than back then.
How is the herd doing in general are there a lot of deer, do you see a lot of bucks
I won't have too much time to scout so any help would be greatly appreciated.

I think starting in Gooseberry where you had success before is a good option. From my experience the deer are in the same general areas as they have always been, just seems to be fewer of them. As far as hunting pressure goes, it seems regional. More units have spread the hunters out more, but that means some areas are getting hit harder and others have thinned out a little. As always, this is Utah and you will be hard pressed to find a place you have all to yourself unless you own it and even that doesn't mean you will be alone on opening morning.

I think the unit holds some nice deer, but I would not expect to fill out on 24 inch four points. If you are not going to get in any scouting, then best stick to areas you already are familiar with, come with the attitude of hunting hard and having fun and I think you will have a good hunt.
