Deer hunting the burns / clear cuts

The new growth will help antlers the first year, you won't see the population jump for 3-6 years.

Let me guess, you drive a 1 ton with oak trees for smoke stacks, 12" lift kit and 40" tires to pull a single place lawn mower trailer?

1-2 months after the burn, the deer will pour in for new grass if there has been any moisture to let it grow back. See it all the time in Arizona after fires. If it is a huge old growth burn, that is super hot, and scorches the earth, it will be the next year before they come back.

As always, Robb is right

We hunted a burn for elk only a few months after a big fire, and there were tan bodies everywhere. They stood out like neon signs in all that black soot!

The next year we also saw more deer.

Burns for Deer are OK in Utah!

Takes a Year!

Within about 3 years the Burns Burn out for Deer!

Some Burn areas are Re-Seeded here in Utah containing a small amount of alfalfa, alfalfa peters out after a few years!

Burn areas Green up quicker than other areas & the Elk/Deer like the Green goods as soon as they can get them!
