LAST EDITED ON Aug-05-14 AT 02:50PM (MST)[p]Wondering if you think this is the same buck? These pics were taken years apart. I believe they look really similar. The one looks a little wider than the other by a couple inches. Looking really closely at each point I see similarities other than the cheater on the right side. One question I have is the first picture has this buck that is really narrow. As he gets older could he grow a few inches wider as in the second picture? If yes, then i think they could be the same buck. The second picture was pulled off of someones FB page and they are in the same area I have hunted before in the past where I took the first's picture 5-6 years ago.

6 years apart and the first picture is heavier and second picture has deeper forks, not the same buck.
Genetics pass on for decades, on my parent's property in MN. The same characteristics have carried through today from the 70's. The same side main beam is always tips lower than the other, same bend to eye guards, G2 is always slightly shorter than G3's etc... many similarities that we see every year on every buck.

Let me guess, you drive a 1 ton with oak trees for smoke stacks, 12" lift kit and 40" tires to pull a single place lawn mower trailer?

I was thinking maybe the same thing about genetics and maybe offspring from the top buck. I don't know. They just look really similar just not as heavy on the second pic. The right G3 on the bottom buck has a little bend at the top as does the top pic. Also the G4?s on the bottom buck are about 2-3 longer too, but the frame and all look the same. Thought maybe as the deer ages could also lose a little bit of mass too.

I would guess different bucks with same genetics if 5 years apart. Usually an older buck will put more mass on, but sometimes looses tine length.

I notice one thing that says it could possibly be the same buck (probably note but possible), the bases on the second photo look huge with tiny horns compared to the first photo. Then again it could be me seeing crap as the photos grainy when I try to zoom in.

I see the same thing, way big bases on the 2nd photo that just neck down for some reason right after the base. If these photos are in the same place, I say it is the same buck.

Could be same genetics but not the same buck. Im pretty sure bugleboy killed the buck in the second pic a few years ago

The antlers look similar but I will say that it is not the same buck because of the shape of the nose, it looks quite different. Probably father and son or something but not the same buck.

Similar genes is all... The first buck looks older than the second one... I'd stick 'em though..!!

Not the same buck the coloring on the face it is different, same gene pool for sure. Maybe different gene pool in the Doe's family.
