LAST EDITED ON Aug-26-14 AT 10:06AM (MST)[p]I was lucky enough to be able to spend last week chasing bucks on the Book Cliffs, and had a really fun hunt. It's neat country out there, tons of deer running around! Also ran into plenty of elk, and even saw the bison a couple times.

Although we saw plenty of deer (fawn crop seems to be extremely strong especially) and a whole bunch of bucks, we did have trouble finding mature deer. Spent lots of time behind the binos and covered tons of ground, just couldn't seem to turn up anything really good. I wouldn't call it disappointing at all because I had a blast, but maybe a little bit surprising though.

I ended up making a nice stalk and a good shot on this buck one evening as he and a group of other bucks fed onto a sage flat in the bottom of a canyon.

My dad got to watch the whole thing from the top of the canyon which was cool for us both.

Even though he may not be the best buck I've ever put a tag on, I had a great, fun hunt with family and friends that I'll remember for a long time.

He's a good-lookin buck my friend. Way to get it done with the bow. Having the perfect opportunity with your father watching, that seems like a trophy hunt to me... :)

Thanks for sharing...

That's a good looking buck. Cool you're dad got to watch. Pretty special to have family around when you're successful. Congrats!!

Congrats on a fun hunt with family and friends there nothing better than sharing your hunt. It seems to make it that much better.

Nice buck.

I had a fun hunt with my son out there. Lost a real big 3X3 which was sad. Tracked all day and then spent time checking a whole hillside looking for him but no luck.

Coming out saw a nice 3X3 that had a domestic dog wound- tore out a 1/3 of hind quarter. So I ended up shooting him to put him out of his misery. Was the ethical thing to do but sad that I passed up a bunch of bigger bucks that I could of easily shoot.

DWR was appreciative. I saw the dog that did it was the type off of Turner and Hooch- must of been 150 pounds. Nine miles from the top of Seep Ridge road. DWR was going to look for the dog. Don't know if it had been one of the Enviro's dogs or not.

Crazy about the dog Ranger1...during a scouting trip out there a houndsman stopped by our camp claiming that the group of protesters had found one of his hounds but wouldn't give it back. They're quite a bunch of folks that's for sure. I wonder if it was one of their dogs.

Way to go Taylor..... Good lookin' buck for sure.

Nice Buck. The Book Cliffs have always been one of my favorite places to hunt. We used to archery hunt it every year before they closed it and went to LE.
Congrats on a good buck.

Nice looking Buck.

I was wondering how you got lucky enough to draw limited entry units so close together. That kind of luck makes even less sense! Congratulations!

Nice Buck! Congrats!
