Last year was my boy's first year bow hunting and shot this buck in the same area.
My other boy is excited for next year which will be his first year hunting deer.
Sorry guys I'm not a big story teller but it was a hunt of a lifetime on any unit let alone a general archery unit in Utah. A buddy and I found him in June and keep tabs on him up to the opening when things came togrther for me last Friday.
It's got to be the kid shooting his first and watching him do it. I hope he never forgets that hunt because I know I won't.
But mine was pretty special as well
Congrats! That is incredible to pull that guy out of a general unit! Did you get a score on him?

a little closer pic, (from my phone) hope you don't mind kylor...
Just wanted to congratulate my lifetime friend/ hunting buddy, and BTO guide Kylor for killing a great muley on a general unit. Wish I could have been there. This just wasn't one summer in the making, its several years of time and effort, and passing on lots of "good" bucks to let them mature to become giants! Great Job you worked hard for him...oh and Nice hat!
While everyone is speculating about which unit you got that giant on I'll just say that if it is anywhere near where your handle indicates you may live, you did very well.
I'm guessing you got this old boy in some of the nastiest country there is in the state. Steep, dark country where opportunities are fleeting, even when you think you have them patterned.
He's a hog buck. Maybe the best buck posted on MM yet...
