I have been looking for a spotting scope. Has anyone used the Nikon Realtree 15-45#60. I like the looks and size and that it comes with a tripod and window mount. But I can not find any product reviews on it. Any suggestions?

I got the Nikon Realtree about two months ago, and so far so good. It is lightweight, and is user friendly. I did not get the kit which you are looking at, but bought the scope alone from an ebay camera store for $240. For the price, I am very pleased. My brother-in-law who has a Zeiss 15-45#60, so we lined them up. The Zeiss was a bit sharper to the edges, but it should be for $1100 more. If you can afford it, buy the good stuff (Leica, Swarowski, Zeiss). But if you can't, the Nikon or an Alpen might be a good choice.

Thanks for the reply bigbull1 I wish I could afford the good stuff but I would end up with a nice scope and no money for gas to go use it. Besides the first time I end up on my back on a snowy or muddy day I believe it wont hurt as bad landing on a 250$ scope compared to one of much more value.;-) Does it work alright in low light and do you think it will with stand some use and abuse?

Exactly- Two years ago I was the pack-mule for my brother-in-law for his deer hunt. I was worried the whole time packing his Zeiss. I also saw him looking over his shoulder as we navigated some tough terrain.

It comes with Nikon's 25 year warranty, which is golden. I had a buddy with a Nikon Field Scope, which had some minor problem. Nikon sent him a new scope! I do think it can handle some abuse. Let you know it about 4 weeks....

It works pretty good in low light. I am sure the big three or even Nikon's top stuff works better, but it kills my old bushnell. Soon as I quit paying kids tuition, I will step up to the good stuff as well. But for now, I am happy with this scope. Good Luck!
