Bitter Sweet Success

Thought I'd post up a picture from the Hunt that ended my 2014 season.
I got a offer to join my accountant and a group of guys who have been Hunting together for 25+ years in Colorado. Although it was for the less desirable 2nd Deer season the offer was to good to pass up.
It was the 3rd day of the season and with no weather and warm days I headed up to my glassing spot earlier then I had been. On the way up I had a little mishap with my ATV lets just say I ended up on the ground. LOL
So I jump up and try to shake it off but I know it's not good. I went up to my spot but after an hour my ankle is throbbing and I can't put any weight on it. I figure I better get to the Hospital so I would be good to go for the morning Hunt. Now by the time I get there the knee is swollen and killing me they take X-rays and yep Ankle is broken and they suspect some damage to the knee.
Dr. says can't do anything for the knee now but ankle needs to be casted. We all know you can't get around with a none weight bearing cast in the mountains so I tell him give me a walking boot for now and we would call it good.
The next day it hurt to bad to go out so I relaxed but 2 days later I was able to take this 175+ Buck with help from my buddy's packing it out for me.

So I should be headed to South Dakota for a pheasant Hunt but I am sitting here recovering from Ankle Surgery and a torn MCL. My wife say's I should have come home as soon as it happened and keeps saying I hope it was worth it and my answer hasn't changed yet "yes it was"

P.S. sorry for the crappy picture I left all my gear in my pack down the hill it took everything I had to get up to the Deer and the only camera we had was an OLD phone one of the guys had. If you look close you can see the blue top of the walking boot on my left leg.

Nice looking rack on that Buck, Big forks, a Dandy!!

Congrats Oilcan! You give a lot of help to guys around here, you deserve a good buck, at least once in awhile!! Get well soon! :)

It's written in the good Book that we'll never be asked to take more than we can. Sounds like a good plan, so bring it on!

Congrats..Super Great buck, "just throw a little dirt on it, you'll be OK. Just kidding, hoping for a fast recovery.
