Besides the Monster taken off the Alton earlier this year, did anyone have any success?? I haven't seen or heard much from down there this year. Sitting on 12 points and hoping to hunt the famous Pauns soon.

The Paunsaugunt LE and Management hunters have been fairly quiet this year for posts, would love to hear stories and see more pics.

Went down looking for buck last week for a few days. Didn't see anything exciting and found them scattered. I attribute that to the high fence. Some go through the underpasses and some don't. In talking to the local sportsmen, the unit didn't produce many good buck. Just a few on private land. The record every one is talking about came from private land on the Alton unit.

Some say it is going down hill fast and some say it is not. Who knows? It is not as exciting as it used to be. I can see a lot of two and three points around here without traveling 150 miles.

cannonball,
You can actually see more than 2 and 3s at home these days! Just gotta look in right area. Hope the season treated you well!

What season Muley? Just addin' points "now a days". Yes, I saw 11 bucks in two miles here in the foothills. Two four points, but nothing to get excited about, but my son-in-law saw a large one on the grazing pasture just before the storms hit a week ago. The buck are there with very few doe. Hate to say it guy, but Tony Abbott said it best: "buck to doe ratio doesn't mean much when there are very few doe.

Hope you did well on the hunts!

Pauns still has great bucks on it. The problem is simply the timing of the rifle hunt. Right now it is pre rut and after the bulk of the migration. It makes scouting really really hard. The extremely warm weather made both the any weapon and management hunt tough. All in all it is not going down hill, it is definitely getting better and better every year. There has been a ton of habitat work done and it is paying off. It is a hard hunt every year and honestly over rated, considering what tags are selling for and how many points it takes to draw.

My bro in law had the tag this year and hunted the whole season and finally killed on day 5 of the hunt. he saw lots of deer but no monsters, as others are reporting. he shot a 27" 4 point. not really deep forks but a brute in body size. ill try and dig up a picture.

"Shoot Straight"

I can draw the NR archery tag if I want. Just only have time for one western hunt/year and every year I've had some other priority. Same for 2015. May be able to burn the UT points 2016.
