Hey guys I'm a new member to the site. I wanted to pick your guys brain. I just found out my buddy and I mule deer hunt in Utah is being canceled due to business issues the outfitter is having. I now do not know where to begin for a hunt next year. We basically got a 2 for 1 deal on this hunt so paying 4K each for another guided hunt is out of the question. So my question is where should we look to hunt mule deer next year on a tag that we can draw? I have 4 Utah points, 2 Nevada, 1 Colorado. All the suggestions and help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

LAST EDITED ON Dec-04-14 AT 07:59AM (MST)[p]I'd look to Montana then, way easy to get a tag there and then look to eastern half on private. They have a Block management program where you can get access to private ranches.

A lot of tags available in CO with 1 point. You never know with NV since everyone has a chance at a low number and with a no preference point system. Those are the two I would be looking at.

I wish u guys would quit sendin people to our state! :D Nothin wrong with az or ut, I'd look at them!

If you are interested in a guided hunt you need to do the guided draw in nevada. Last year there was a 50% draw odd for area 6. I guide for high ridge outfitters and have done very very well in area 6 the last two years. I have guided 6 deer hunts in the last two years with the smallest buck being a 28" 4x4 grossing 165. If this is something hung your interested in pm me an I can send you pictures of the bucks and let you know the specifics.

Am going with rob at Nevada Outfitters next year, he keeps getting big bucks year after year, here is a pic. he sent me from this year.

Yup, I am gonna say it. How about trying to do something so radical, so unbelievable, so unthinkable that I barely dare mention it. Try hunting. You know, DIY. My fingers are burning as I type it, but it could just be possible that in Utah for example where 70% of the state is public land you MIGHT not need a guide.

Hossblur,

If you actually read my post you would know that I asked for a suggestion on a place where we could draw a tag. Maybe for you as a Utah resident by the sounds of it can hunt/draw a tag no problem. I guarantee you I probably hunt harder on my own than you do. I have never done a guided hunt before and when your plans change in a second and you are not prepared, you have to try and figure it out, which is what I'm trying to do. How about not saying or writing to forums if you have nothing positive to say. You should never put down or judge/be disrespectful to honest hard working hunters. I think that forums are made so hunters can communicate with one another.
