Looks like 3 generations of big buck hunters. My guess would be that Grandpa there has a nice spread in good country.
Three nicer bucks from a hunt would be hard to come by. Personally. i like the buck on the left the best.

I actually know very little about these deer. I found the picture and thought it was awesome. I thought it was a good picture to share on MM during the slow days of January.
Here is what I do know: These are Idaho bucks that were killed in 1984 on Mount Harrison in southern Idaho. The hunters were a Grandfather/Father/Son team from California. The picture was taken at an F&G check station, so it's highly likely that the hunters have never seen this picture. The retired F&G employee I asked about the photo said that these guys came off the mountain to the check station 3 days in a row, each day with a new buck. Unbelievable!
The thing I love about the picture is that it takes a while to absorb the whole thing. At first, your eyes are drawn to the big wide buck the Father is holding. Then you realize that the buck the Son is holding, although not as wide, is likely a much better choice (and, that big cork screw dropper is amazing). Then you look at the Grandfather's buck and realize that it, too, is huge, but it hides in the background behind the front two. I would gladly take any of the three!
Anybody out there in MM world know who these hunters or where these buck ended up? Just curious. The photo is now more than 30 years old.
