I'm on the fence.... I have been putting in for the henrys muzzy. tag up till now. Now there is another option. The new multi-season tag. By my math there are less that 100 people it the state with more points that me. How many will go after the new tag and let me sneak in for muzzy tag,or do I hold out for the new tag? If I cant get either tag I would rather try to luck out on the multi tag... but I would be sad if everyone moves to the new tag and I could have drawn the regular tag with max points. Do I flip a coin? I have 17 points this year.

FYI, I only count 28 people with 18 or more points, and another 73 in your point pool. I think you'd probably draw the muzzy tag this year, and you're not that far off of being in the max point group for rifle. You'd probably draw it in the next 3 years.

One thing to consider is how many bonus tags there will be on the multi-season hunt. If there is only 12 on the rifle, I'd guess the multi will have around 5 or less. I think you have better odds of drawing the multi now, before the trend becomes obvious. Too bad they don't release the tag numbers before the application period!

I guess it depends how long you're willing to wait for the multi tag. It might come down to that coin flip, though!

There is only supposed to be a maximum of around 3% of the total allotted permits per unit that will be drawn for the multi season hunt for each unit.
Henry's 1-2 permits
Pauns 3-4 permits
Vernon 8-10 permits
Book cliffs around 10 permits
SJ 1-2 permits
Oak creeks 1-2 permits

In other words the multi season hunt on the Henry's will be another AI draw hunt. Lots and lots of applicants and very few permits. It should though, pull some applicants out of the premium rifle, muzzy, and archery draws to open it up for the applicants with a lot of points to slightly increase their odds of drawing a permit for those respective hunts if they stick to their guns. I might be wrong but this is how I interpret these additions to the draws this year. Choose wisely my friends....

I think your guesses are right on for the tag numbers per unit for the new multi-season hunts. The WDV and BC units are the only ones in the booklet which say they will be open to NRs, and that would be in line with your number of 10 tags. 9 for Res/1 for NR.

I'm still up in the air with my 18 NR points; when to I switch to the Henry's for the rest of my life and just play the lottery??????

That Was my original plan.... But that new tag is very tempting.
I am more interested in the muzz. tag the rifle. Just like that season and a lot of deer (big) are dead by the rifle season. You have a good on this Thanks.

LAST EDITED ON Feb-09-15 AT 02:06PM (MST)[p]Stick with the muzzy tag. You might actually get that one. Even if there are 2 multiseason tags, one a bonus tag, there's gonna be a couple dozen guys put in from the rifle group... Many with more points than you.

You have to hope other guys from your Muzzy pool fall for that tag. Then you'll be huntin the Henry's... ? ?
