I was lucky enough to draw this tag and am looking forward to the hunt. I have never hunted this unit before. Anyone who has hunted here before, please share some wisdom with me regarding where to start. The only information I have found through researching is to spend a lot of time glassing in the high country and if weather comes in early, the deer become tough to find as they migrate lower.

If your glassing in High country your on the wrong unit. Elkridge is a plateau. Elk ridge is not an easy unit to find big bucks during the rifle hunt. I would suggest using Black Timber Outfitters.

Regardless, it is a great hunt. We have hunted the unit every year since 2009. We will be there again this year during the Muzzleloader hunt. You will have tons of fun and see loads of deer. There is another Elk Ridge post. Check that out in this same Deer forum.
