bookcliffs north any weapon

I drew the this tag and was wondering in Oct where would be a good place to focus there deer. I drew a late elk tag there in Nov 2013 and was camped in south canyon, seen a ton of elk but no deer. I'm planning on going up in Aug to do some looking around but pretty sure it will be totally different come Oct. Just looking for some advice if anyone has any, I see a lot of knowledge out there.
