Would appreciate any info on this area related to deer population and what to expect for bucks this fall. Making the trip with three generation of hunters. My 13 year old son, 71 year old father and myself. Can't wait for the memories. Hoping my son and dad harvest. Any help would be great.

Crittergetter - I'm not a Wyo resident but have elk hunted this area quite a bit. If you are looking for guidance, I'll assume you are hunting Nat'l Forest / BLM and not private. That narrows things down greatly.
First time in the area or just looking for update ?
Planning to hunt the opener or later part of season ?
Answers to these questions would steer my response.
You should be proud to plan a 3 generation hunt- keep the fires burning for your pop & light a new one for your son !
Woosh

I have hunter this area before, last time was 2008. We will be hunting the opener. Thanks for any updates / assistance

I've hunted in or near this unit 6-7 times since 2002 - mainly for elk. Big drop in deer numbers about 5-6 yrs ago. Hunted in 2013 and the deer looked to be making a decent comeback with encouraging numbers of young bucks & does seen, just in the process of chasing elk. This was mainly all in the dark timber in the Nat'l Forest. If only looking for deer, I'd spend time at a bit lower elevations along the eastern edge in the aspen pockets as the Nat'l forest breaks into BLM and private.
Hope for snow, and it could provide lots of deer opportunities for your son and father. No snow, stay high where you can find the aspens. Much more aspen in Unit 82 than in unit 80.
