Glassing

I'm curious as to how many days of glassing will you guys give an area before you move on during the scouting season. I usually will give an area about three mornings and two evenings and head to a new vantage point. I will often return to previous areas later on to see if any new bucks have showed up.

I usually jump from canyon to canyon. Just be consistent with the areas and you will turn up the big ones. Deer wander.....so do I, just so I can keep covering ground. Once you locate bucks, and learn the areas you glass, it is easy to hit three or four areas in a morning, just glancing over specific areas they tend to hang in. The challenge isn't finding them in the pre season. the challenge is finding them when it comes time to kill.

You are more patient than me. It depends a little bit on the kind of country, but if it is fairly open (above timberline or brushy rimrock) I move on pretty quickly. I don't do a lot of hunting in heavily timbered areas, and you likely need to look longer there.

I scouted an area Friday night and Saturday morning. It was a disappointment and I won't go back there.

If it is a proven area, where I have frequently seen big deer in the past, I'll keep going back. But on a flyer for a new area, it is one and done of it doesn't look promising or I don't see a stud.
