Had my first opportunity to take down a buck with my Bowtech Insanity! I saw some great deer last year (my first year with a bow) just couldn't get the nerves worked out to arrow anything.

This past Friday morning the opportunity presented itself. I spotted a group of deer on the ridge line around 6:30 am. They were enjoying a morning feed and I took my time putting a stock on the group. It was 7:23 before I was able to knock an arrow and take down my first archery buck. I had a unique opportunity to shoot a seemingly tall or wide buck. I choose the wide and probably let a bigger buck get away (see last photo). Given the circumstances, I'm just ecstatic to have something on the ground.

Once I reached the edge of the aspens, I could't get any closer without exposing myself and not to mention I was about to get busted by a two point and a doe 10 yards from me. After a long stare off, they lost interest and the opportunity presented itself to let the arrow fly.

This wasn't a close shot but I was more than thrilled to watch the arrow hit and almost immediately, I watched him sit down. He went no more than 20 feet.

The rest is history. Thanks to Colby, David and my buddy Josh who helped me field dress and pack this trophy out.
