Book Cliffs muzz report

Just returned from 4 days of hunting down on the hot, dry, dusty, full of elk, not many deer Book Cliffs. Hunted from the very tops, to massey junction, saw more bucks mid mountain than up high. Did see one nice shooter, just couldn't close the gap. Seems to me the deer herd is struggling on the Books, hoping the next few weeks bring cooler, wet weather!!! Rifle hunt may be the ticket! !??

Get away from people. Once we did that with dad the bucks came out of the wood work. They are still up high. I know a lot of people say they are moving off top which some may be but there are still plenty of bucks high.

Did you only get to hunt the first 4 days..?? Or did you come home for Sunday and are headin back out there..??

Good luck if you are out there again. Keep up the hard huntin. There are good bucks out there, and I'm guessing quite a few guys are done hunting already.

Tell your old man congrats for me Sniper1... Did your whole family get out there to help him..?? That's a dandy buck.

That's all I could hunt for Muzz. I have the multi-season tag, gonna hit the entire rifle hunt. Hoping I can connect!! Any advice guys?

That's awesome Sniper1... That's a pic for you and the boy's to cherish for many years to come...

I agree with Sniper1. If you get off the roads and away from people the deer are definitely there. This is a buck my brother killed last week. He wasn't the biggest deer we saw but my brother loved the character on this deer and couldn't be happier with him.

Great looking old buck!
Way to get it done down on the Books.
There's been some real good bucks taken down there this year.
Way to make the most of what sounds like a pretty challenging hunt.
Congrats and thanks for sharing

I hunted the roadless area for 6 days saw lots of little bucks and saw some giants right before it opened, but never turned any of them up! Fun time in a new area and my first deer with a smokepole.

Looks like you took care of business. I see nothing "crabby" about that Buck. You look happy and that's what it's about. Congrats!
