Tagged out Saturday.....walked right up on one and jumped him out of his bed at 35 yards. With the recent rain he didn't even know I was there and of course I DIDN'T Know he was there. He turned broadside and gave me the OH ##### look and down he went...Didn't have a camera as usual...but local game warden took pics of him and waiting for them...I'm picking the horns up from taxidermist today and will take a pic tonight...he's a 10 x 10 with a 33 inch spread.....

I have a friend in town that is an official Pope and Young scorer and he scored him at 237....so we'll see after the drying period...I'm gonna take the velvet off and put the wham (Wild Antler Magic) to him and get him re-scored....Cat.. he was pretty lazy only had to go a hundred yards to feed and spring water was only 50 yards away...his back feet were curled over like he was on the verge of foundering...and fat as a butterball turkey...took me 2 days to cut a horse trail to him thru all the downfall...

Congrats Longun, i see a All Time Records Book Entry, minimum 230 net, with your Buck and name on it, in your future. Lots have tried, not many got there, myself included! Way Cool, and a muzzy kill to boot!

I can't help but wonder if that was the buck that Founder was hunting? lol

why fix it if it ain't broke....HEHEHHE

After reading about the bow hunter incident I better clarify my getting the buck out before the ethics police start picking on me....I shot him Saturday morning 8:00 am,caped him out, gutted him ran into the local Game Warden who checked him out and my tags, said he was at least 8 or 9 years old, drove home to the local taxidermist, went back and cut trail till 4:00 pm and burnt myself out-left saw and gas in woods, got up the next morning 5:00 am grabbed horse and trailer and finshed cutting the trail about 2:00 pm loaded up everything and was home by 6:00pm with meat in my well house.....

You guys are all so far of its unbelievable..!!

I count 10x11... :)

What a HOG buck. Truly a once-in-a-lifetime buck for most of us. I'll probably never see a buck that large let alone harvest one. Way to be in the right place, at the right time, with the right preparation.!! :)

BIG TIME CONGRATS!! It's really good to see a local guy who does things on his own succeed. And the way you took care of him is great too. My grandpa also had a 300 Savage model 99. I got it from my dad and just handed it down to my son in law.

This was a really good story for me. Thanks for sharing.

My goodness.......that's one awesome buck!!Big time congrats on a true monster. Love the character of those antlers. Please post some pics after you strip the velvet.

That is way too cool Longun, congratulations! I'm glad you clarified how you took care of the meat, but you'll probably draw others criticism by believing anybody but Tristate on the deer's age!

Mike, that's awesome! The way it happened is extra special!

Don't ever count us old broken down loggers out.:)

Yea Mike got a nice Buck again this year and I sure don't know where this above picture was taken as it is not where he sent me and my buddy to hunt the day after we got there. Here is what I found after hiking up thru all that damn down fall etc. He did not leave me anything to take back down off the hill except tired bones and feet...LOL

I did find his "kill spot" though...
