Why are there no deer on this Island? Seems pretty similar to its sister Antelope to the East.

"Why are there no deer on this Island?"

Because there are no "Deer Crossing" signs put up near there? ;-)

LAST EDITED ON Dec-04-15 AT 02:14PM (MST)[p]Stansbury Island is mostly owned by the Bleazard family from the Tooele valley area. Having known a few of the Bleazards in my life, I have seen some of the bucks that have been killed on SI. A few of them have been pretty solid, but nothing like you see coming off Antelope Island. The genetics on SI seem to produce some pretty "stick horned" type bucks. A lot of the bucks I saw were also 3x4 or 2x4, not too many 4x4 or bigger.

I don't know how it is anymore out there, but they used to patrol it pretty heavily to keep people out. I once had one of their ranch hands pull a rifle out on me and point it right at my head while I was out there. Luckily, one of the Bleazards who was following me in his truck pulled up behind me right then, or things might have gotten ugly. They used to have quite a few cows out there, so I don't blame them for trying to keep people off their private land.

Maybe the east side has some public land but you have to get there by boat. I'm not for certain but I think I remember something to that effect.
