I hope everyone has had a good 2015 season! I am looking for some help. I have been doing research on WY Mule deer units and am wondering what everyone thinks of the 105, 106, 109 special draw unit. I have max points and am looking at doing it DIY on public land with a rifle. Does anyone have any good info about this area? How is the herd health? Age class? Etc. Any help would be much appreciated as I am looking at applying for 2016!

I just did thanks! That is some good info. I am still wondering if it is any different since the LE tag is later in the season.

Like Mightyhunter said, it all depends if the herd migrates. That is also different every year. The last time we hunted it, it was the regular season at the end of Oct. and there was a few inches of snow, and the herd had migrated early that year. That was about four years ago. Most years before that we hunted it a day or two each year during the first part of Nov., that was before it turned into a limited entry for Nov. and most years it was not very good as the migration hadn't happened yet. So I think it would be a crap shoot. Good if the migration happens, and not very good if it doesn't. You need a crystal ball.

One of the largest bucks killed in Wyoming in the last 5 years came out of that unit a couple years ago.

Thanks! Does anyone have an opinion on how much snow it will take to start moving the big Mule deer bucks out of their summer and early fall ranges to get them into there rutting and winter ranges in the areas of 105, 106, & 109?
