Because I Can't Field Judge

That's a very cool, lots of character, mature 155, IMO. Definitely not one you'll want to score.

LAST EDITED ON Jan-01-16 AT 01:58PM (MST)[p] i think he's a low 160" deer. that's gross!

Early in my muley hunting days, he's the kind of buck that i didn't like to see because he might just get himself shot. Tuff to pass up those kind, when i was really there and all about a much bigger deer. :)

I'm with you Sage, that's why I ask. He caught my eye and I think I'd have a very hard time not shooting him id I were hunting.

140 to 170 wow that's a big spread, quite interesting. I was thinking 165 but like I said I'm terrible at scoring.

Gross north of 160", I think your mid 160's guess is pretty close gross of course. We don't deal with net score, inches are inches.

If the score is more of what informs your goals and outcomes, then you probably won't want to shoot this buck. If you are more motivated by wow factors, uniqueness, or other variables of appearance, it might make a great trophy for you. He's a great looking buck, regardless of score.

If you have already killed lots of bucks around this quality or higher, then you probably won't want to shoot this buck without seeing if you can find a bigger one. If you are more motivated by wow factors, uniqueness, or other variables of appearance, it might make a great trophy for you. He's a great looking buck, regardless of score...but they do come much bigger. :)

You guys and your "scores"....Congrats on a great pic gloomis! That's a pretty buck and that second pic is a Mag Cover! Thanks for sharin with us.

I probably would have shot him had I possessed a tag.

I was just excited of the good image I captured of a great looking buck. Been messing around with this digoscoping thing and it's been a challenge.

I've never been very concerned with score but I was curious about this guy. I think he would make a great looking shoulder mount.

Score doesn't matter, but it gives a reference point and it's fun to discuss.

I say 165-ish. He's a cool looking buck.

I'm coming up with a guess around 168"

He's a cool buck and one I'd harvest in many areas.

I'll go out on a limb and give him 165"-170".

I love how guys say "LET HIM GROW"

How big do you think he was last year? Well....I'll give you a hint:

Turns out this buck has reached his limit and isn't going to get much bigger. He's pretty much identical from last year.

Here's a better pic this year from the back. He's a cool tall buck with some character.

He will score mid 160's to low 170's easily.
He has mid sized main beams and huge G4s on both sides. Left side has Huge G3s but short G2s and the opposite is true for the right side, he also has about a 2" extra. He's a big all around buck and a shooter in my book but just has a few short comings to be considered a monster.

He is narrow, but tall. Generally speaking, ears are 22"-26" wide.

All that said, I'd launch lead at him.

HJB, There must not be plenty of big bucks out there if you are taking the time to get pics. of little ones. Just kiddin I have filmed him to. But I do like it when guys say "let him grow" This Buck has poor genetics and will never be anything great. But you would not know that unless you had watched him for a few years.

I usually end up picking sheds up off the little ones, so I take pics of everything I see. I can never snag any of the big ones.

I agree about the "Let him grow" statement. I have just realized the last few years that many bucks have bad genetics and don't get any bigger. That said, I'm more than happy to see guys "Let them grow". That just means I get to see them on the range again.

I'm not a good judge either, but he could go for ride in the back of my truck as I've never killed a mulie that size.

So how old would you say he is?
