I scouted up a cactus buck earlier this summer that was all messed up on antler growth. Well, today I actually saw the same deer. It was still in velvet.

I am not even sure it is a buck or a doe

My dad got a nice cactus buck in CO this year. He had nuts but they were separated about 4 inches apart. I have photos on the Colorado forum. Give him or it a few years and it will a cool deer to harvest.

Watched a buck just like this one on the winter range for like six years in a row. He would come into winter with little spikes like the one on this deer's left side but they would always break off by mid winter. It was like they were brittle. He would always be left with knarly velvety clumps of antler like this buck. The deer had a more, for lack of a better term, feminine look and even after six years looked more like a doe than an old buck. Like has been mentioned, I would guess it was some version of a hermaphrodite or something like that. I wish I had the authority to tranquilize that deer and do a study.
