I was born and raised there.
LOTS of deer back there you just have to get off the roads and find them, Lots of creek bottoms, ravines, River breaks, they all have deer in them here and there. West River is a good place for glassing river bottoms/breaks find some high spots and you can glass up and down for miles. Those walk-in Maps are a good thing to have the further you have go in the better it will be get a game cart for hauling stuff in and out. Those old Ranchers frown on you using horses thy want ya to use your own 2 feet.
If you have the any Buck type tag I would hunt close the east side of West River(Stanley,Jones,Hannkon Counties) You got a good chance in running across a Big Whitey too. Farther west you go the more you find the Muleys and fewer Whitetails. Good Luck
