Could you hit the dirt, get the crosshairs on him and be ready for when he turns broadside? Is he even a taker for you?
Time is up when video ends........................

I would definitely be on the ground with my crosshairs on him... But I'd have to see more than the "from behind" angle to decide whether or not to shoot him...

I would definitely kill him. Same as previous....I'd be waiting for him to turn broadside. Should give me plenty of time to calm down and slow the heart rate before jerking the trigger. LOL

LAST EDITED ON May-19-16 AT 11:23AM (MST)[p]You guys on these 15 second post, must hunt way better deer units them me, because he is legal, he is dead in my hunting. And he looks legal so dead.

I also love the taste of deer so there that.

i learned hunting and killing bucks in blacktail country and have taken over a dozen good bucks in the second or three that they offered for a killing shot so yeah, i could easily get that part done, pretty sure. Nothing in my outfit or routine causes un-needed delay, i used to prefer fixed straight 6 power scopes so i wasn't always adjusting the power ring when i should be shooting. The one possible thing that may hold a guy like me up is if i feel that i need to range him first. Otherwise i hit the dirt then he hits the dirt, that's how it goes.

This buck though, does not get shot by me in that time frame. As he is, i've seen enough but it is very likely that i'll wait a bit for him to turn some and give me a better killing shot.

That one would live for another day if all I have is 15 seconds to look him over from the back. I am not apposed to shooting a big three point but I have to talk myself into it and that takes more than 15 seconds for me. I doubt I would loose a whole lot of sleep over this missed opportunity either.

Thanks for posting.

Tri,
Did you mean "approved" or "opposed"
It'll have more meaning if we know which word you're searching for.

I had one just like that in my sights in CO some years back. I was on the ground and steady, but I had longer to look at him than 15 seconds. My son was screaming in my ear, don't shoot, so I didn't. I later killed a 200 inch typical.

All depends on where you are hunting and what your "sights" are set on.

Forgot to mention "loose" or "lose", zeke. Keeping you honest, sir. :)

That's perfect Tri.
Whiz, I wasn't trying to correct his whole post, only trying to figure out if he wasn't approved to shoot a 3 or wasn't opposed to shooting a big 3. Besides, what he does with his sleep is up to him. I don't want to know. Hahahaha
Havin' too much fun and I'm not the grammar cop. I don't need another full-time job!

PS: I've had LBH's 200" buck in my hands. It's magnificent!

I would pass on this buck.
Two things I have learned over the years about judging deer. A mule deer running away with his ears back always looks HUGE and a deer facing away always makes him look bigger than what he really is.

If he doesn't initially have that Holy S**t factor then the first things I look for is if the first antler branch is at or above the ear tips or incredibly deep forks (about equal to or longer than his ears). This buck has none of these.

This is a good buck, but you won't shoot a great buck if you punch your tag early on a good one. My luck, is that I would shoot this buck and then see a 185+ buck while packing him out!!!

First thing I would need to know to answer the question is "what unit". That buck is a first day shooter were I hunt most years in Oregon. 15 seconds is plenty of time to get it done but he doesn't look alarmed so I would wait for a better angle.

I'm not sure why I even opened this thread, let alone posting.
I don't even have my truck in park, mtn dew and cup cake out of my hand in 15 seconds

"Be ready for him to turn broadside"???...nope.soon as he picks his head up a 110 A/B from my 257roy is thru the back of the neck.Dirt sample.
