LAST EDITED ON May-20-16 AT 08:29PM (MST)[p]Hey folks.
I know this is a longshot, and I know how this usually goes....but here goes anyway.
I live in West TN, and have always wanted to bow hunt a mule deer, and lucky I got drawn this year for the Wasatch MTNs East area. I have been going crazy looking a maps the past few days running through in my mind where a herd may be hanging out, but I thought I would ask if anyone had any experience here I sure would appreciate it. Just point me to a mountain, not your tree stand. More importantly I am looking for a place to camp or reside. Nothing fancy is needed. Just a hot shower somewhere close to the hunt area would be good. I've looked a moon lake resort and down toward Helper at a couple of campgrounds. I really like the state...my wife and I actually honeymooned near Deer Valley. It's a wonderful place. Thanks for your help. My email is [email protected] just in case no one wants to put info on boards. Thanks!

There's no "moonshine" in the Utah hills, but plenty of muleys! JK. :) :)
There are good numbers of deer throughout that unit, but you could start in the Chalk Creek, Tabby mountain area, the country north and west of Strawberry Reservoir. If you are camping there are campgrounds all over the place, but if I were you, I'd get more central in the unit than Helper.
Best of luck

I don't think Helper is even in the Wasatch East Area, if it is then it is on the very southern tip of it. But I guess you could stay there and hunt the north end of Price canyon.

There is a lot of varied terrain in that unit from sagebrush to cedars to scrub oak to heavy pines, and buy cedars we mean Junipers, scrubby low trees. Heck that describes most of Utah.

There is a lot of unimproved public ground where you can camp on all of the unit. Most of the improved stuff would probably be in the Strawberry Reservoir area or nearer to Heber or Duchesne.

If you aren't being guided or will have a chance to come out and scout then maybe the best bet would be to pick a specific area and research it out or you could spend your whole hunt driving around.

There is some big country in that unit, and some big deer too.
Have fun!

Hey TN,what weapon did u draw? Rifle? Let me know and I will try to do some research for u.there can be a big difference in where to hunt for archery, muzzy, and rifle hunts.
