Would you take him? If it were opening morning in your favorite hunting spot, do you drop the hammer? I flip an arrow? How about in a general season area in Utah or Arizona or California?

How wide is he?

I'd take one like him with my bow in Utah this year. I think.....

Yes, I take this buck on a general hunt in Utah on opening morning. I would not even hesitate for one second on that buck. He's got to be 28+ inches on his outside spread in the velvet.

Great looking buck! I would love a buck like that.

It's in deep trouble if it's a general season tag. I'd hesitate if I had a great LE deer tag in my possession.

I would shoot this buck in any Utah General Season, but any other tag he walks. I hate short fronts and no brow tines. He has both those issues.

That's a general season no-brainer in my world.

With my Multi-Season Book Cliffs tag, I don't think I'd be putting him down early on in the hunt... He's a good buck, but I might like to keep looking a few more days... :) I might regret it later, but width just isn't my cup of tea... Of course, this buck is filmed a little early in the year I think, so his tines might have shot out another couple or few inches... Then we'd be in business...

Most Mule deer hunts that i've been on, as he now is, i pass up that buck and have many times passed on others somewhat bigger than him.

Nowadays, it's tough to tell if i'd be happy with one like that or not. It's what floats a guys boat at the time the decision must be made. If he showed himself on a here local general season type hunt, he's a freezer filler for sure and glad to have him.

I'd probably hesitate so long he'd get away. I think I'd have to pass. Nice buck and thanks for the good question.

I would be happy to fill my ML tag with him or his brother.

Last day on a 6 day hunt - yes. Archery inside 40 yards - yes.

I have never agreed with the "shoot on the first day what you'd be happy with on the last day" theory, unless you have hunted the country before many times, and know the lay of the land and the caliber of the bucks there. Even year to year the same area can vary a lot. If I saw him opening morning I'd be thinking "wow, he looks great but he looks like a younger buck, I wonder if we can find his big brother"

He has great potential, good boxy frame, but weak forks- high in the back, crabby in the front.

The fact that he's in velvet in his summer pattern, I'd assume you have a good chance of relocating him if he isn't boogered out. If there's a lot of pressure and you wont' have that luxury it would be a harder decision.
