Couldn't believe it drew this tag with only 7 points. I have never been on the Henry Mountains before. I was just looking for any info from anyone who has had this tag in the past. I have planed two scouting trips the middle of July and the end of July and then three days before the hunt starts.

Awesome tag, Get there and start learning the area. You don't want to be lazy with this good of a tag. You may never draw another tag as good.

Congrats on a sweet tag. For the record, it will be a hard hunt. I spent two days on the Henry's in 2014, just before the archery hunt. I saw some of the biggest deer I've ever seen on that trip. It was a ton of fun and I will definitely go back again.

That said, I wasn't tasked with getting to 60 yards or less of these bucks. The Henry's are steep, and they are open. However, that makes a successful stalk that much more impressive.

I think in your case, being there 3 days before the hunt will be of great benefit. I would locate the biggest buck you can, watch him from afar for as many days as you can, trying to pattern him (and his friends), and then when the timing is right, slip in on him and hope he follows his pattern right by you.

Here's a quick link to my video of that short trip:
