Hey guys, my name is Eldon Rizzi and I found out today that I was the lucky recipient of the Wyoming super tag for mule deer. I know I have a lot of work infront of me but I was looking for any help I can find. I live in southern Colorado where I run a small business welding and fabricating with my wife and two young boys. I aim to devote as much time as I can to this dream hunt but I know I won't be able to put the time in that I would like. Any help would be apreciated. Thanks.

You Better make Time!

You Can Weld & Fabricate the Rest of your Life!:D

Big congrats. Lots of options but none that are a sure bet for a stud. Shoot me a pm if you want my two cents worth.

You could kill a great buck, but it may take some time. I'm biased, but I'm not sure some of the most well-known and tough to draw areas are where I'd go.

Best of luck.

First...congrats! You struck gold.

Second, I agree with ElkAss. But, I suppose a lot of "internet scouting" can be accomplished and productive, if done the right way.

Good luck! And don't be a stranger when the hunt goes off. We'd love some updates, and pics are mandatory. :)

Congrats on the tag. I envy you, but don't envy you at the same time as there are not a lot of great options in WY, just a bunch of good options. This is probably the reason so many are sitting on max points in WY...just hoping an area gets hot. Hearing that your best option might be G or H says something about the rest of the WY deer herd.

You could jump from good option to good option all Fall or you could just put all of your eggs in one basket and pick an area and try to find a good one and spend a few weeks in that area. Not sure what I would do, but it would be fun to do the following:

1) Scout and Hunt the G Opener on Sept. 15th
2) Hunt 90 anytime in October that you can (Oct 1 -30).
3) Scout and Hunt the 102 Opener on Oct. 15
4) Hunt the end of 130 (ends October 31)
5) Hunt the end of the 105, 106, 109 hunt (end Nov. 15)
6) Hunt the end of 128 (ends Nov. 20)

I am guessing you saw this article from last year's hunt:

https://wgfd.wyo.gov/WGFD/media/content/PDF/Hunting/Super Tag/Ennis_Mule_Deer_Story.pdf

It sounds like he hunted 130 from the article. I would bet he was going to move to another area if he didn't find a good one by the end of that hunt.

If you could only make 1 trip, you could hunt both the end of 105 and 128 in the same trip.

Thanks so much for all the advice. This helps me with a strategy. I was thinking region G on the 15, 89 or 130 late October, and the 105 or 128 late.
Would you concentrate on 105 above 106 and 109?
And do you have any drainage a or spots to start in G? If you don't want to say I understand. Just looking for a place to start. It's a lot of country.

Thanks again
