Taker or no? What's your thoughts on this one?

Is this a pretty good one? Big enough for you? How wide? What do you think he'll end up scoring? How much, if any, will his tines grow if video shot today?

Those are all good questions and I've been asking myself the same ones with the bucks I've seen scouting.

I'll preface further comments about your buck with what I've been telling my buddies: THE MORE I LOOK AT BIG BUCKS, THE MORE I REALIZE THAT I DON'T KNOW ANYTHING.

I'll throw out the first guess. Mid 170's and maybe, just maybe he'll reach 180" by the bow hunt. This is only a knee-jerk answer since I didn't use a score sheet.

Most bucks are "finished" by the bow season around here but I've seen exceptions to that too. Some are rubbed by the end of bow season so obviously they quit growing some time before that.

Your buck looks knobby on the ends which leads me to believe he'll add measurable inches by hunting season but I can only base that on anecdotal and not empirical information.

Fine buck for almost anyone or any place.

I did pre-warn Founder that I didn't know anything.

Off the subject a little:
I just guessed the score of a different buck which i saw in a photo. I then grabbed a score sheet and made a long series of guesses down through the appropriate columns AND MY SCORES MATCHED! This, of course, means absolutely nothing but I just wanted to share my luck. Oh, and I have no way of checking my work since I don't have any record of what that buck actually scored.

Hey, does anyone know what the 2015 Wyoming super buck scored?

I'd say close to 180 on founders buck.

The 2015 Super buck looks to be around 170. Real short MB's

I would keep my eye on this deer. He appears very mature to me. Not just a big racked youngster. Inside spread looks 23. He has a significant bit of growing to do yet. I would think it is highly probable he will be in the 180s. That right g-4 should end up forking and he has a long split in his right ear so he is very identifiable. This is my favorite deer so far you have posted this season and for me a great candidate for the hunt.

I agree with tristate. Seems to have the makings of a deer that could be 180s and I just like his "look" if he puts on a couple more inches in the next month I'd shoot him and be completely happy with him.. He might not go over 180 but he is gonna be close and I really like him so yeah dropping the hammer.. One of my favorites so far too!

Nice buck!
I don't get to do much summer scouting so I'm no expert but iMO he has very round tips yet and I would guess him to have another 3 weeks of good growing. I would guess at .75" to 1" of growth per week he could add on another 2.5" to 3" before finishing out. That's another 20" to 24"!
I think he will be upper 180's and 27" - 27.5" wide by the time he is done.
He justifies another look later this summer.

Hes a great buck...But i think he will end in the 170s...I just dont think his forks are deep enough to gather enough inches to break 180s. Good looking buck, and another year or so under his belt and he could be a hell of a buck.

Take a look at this buck please and share your thoughts! pymulies gave his idea and maybe the mass and height doesn't offset the shout main beams...like he said. I "guessed" him at least 10" higher than him but I'm far from the expert on deer scores.

I hope Founder doesn't feel too hijacked but I'm trying to learn from the group.

I say founders buck will go 190 when he is done, he is a stud or will be a
stud when he is done growing.

I think the other buck is just under 180, good mass, good forks, short main beams.

That's a taker buck. He looks like he should end up somewhere in the low to mid 180's. But I wouldn't be surprised if I'm low ballin' him either.

LAST EDITED ON Jul-22-16 AT 06:37AM (MST)[p]I looked at the buck again this morning on my computer (not my little IPhone screen). After getting a better look at him I would change my guess to him maxing out at around 180 - 183. Really nice looking buck though.
