Of course, normally it wouldn't have been my first choice - but I also knew hitting him in the back hip (.300 RUM) would do just exactly as it did, put him down in seconds.

Sometimes, you take what you are given - especially if you are confident you can do it. If I wasn't, I would not have taken the shot.

Hope you enjoyed the video - thank you!

I liked the video and the buck is a real good buck! Not a shot to be proud of. I'm not saying I wouldn't have taken that shot and not saying that's where I wouldn't have hit him - I'm far from perfect when it comes to shooting. But I wouldn't have been aiming at his hip.

But I am saying I wouldn't have taken that shot knowing I wanted to hit him in the back hip and assuming he'd go down quick since I was shooting a 300 RUM. That wouldn't have been my mindset at all.

I wouldn't have even brought anything up to take attention off of the video until you mentioned you knew you were going to hit him in the back hip.

I Understand your position totally, and each to his own. I felt confident I knew exactly what I was doing - and thus I did so. All's well that ends well in my book!

Thank you!!!!

Yeah, you're right. You were confident in the shot and took it - that's what matters. You've killed way more animals that I ever will and with that comes different views and instincts on "the kill shot".

Sorry to diverge - the buck is gorgeous and I do like how the video played out!
