Looking forward to hunting Idaho this year with my buddy.. Was fortunate enough to draw a deer for unit 67, season goes till Nov 8th. Don't hear alot about this area, was looking for some input. Im thinking about just hunting the last week of the season. Ive done a lot of google earth re search but would like some your help as well. I live too far away to even attempt a scout trip

I've had that tag twice myself, it is a tough area to hunt but it does have some nice bucks, if you planned on hunting early on October 5th your best bet would be to get up in the high country this is good cause you can hunt 5 days before the general season opens, but if you hunt those last days in November I would concentrate more down lower the area from sheep creek to pine creek usually has some good deer especially if it snows up high in October, I've had good luck in mike spencer canyon in the pine creek area if you can get some good snow those last few days in November.

does your buddy have a tag for this unit too? I would hunt it from oct 25th to nov 8th. The big bucks are coming down into the lower canyons looking for does about that time. Weather it snows or not. Anywhere off the road in pine creek canyon is good to hunt at that time. The snow is a bonus if it comes. It is super dry in their right now. The bow hunters are going to have a nightmare of a time sneaking up on anything, plus getting anything out before it spoils is a real challenge this year.

From my experience, mid mtn it tough, it's thick and this year dry. Hope for snow and look for glassing areas, there few a far between.

I drew this unit too but the late tag that goes till the end of November. How many deer can a person expect to see on this hunt and what kind of buck can I expect? I do not want to pass up a buck that would be in the top end for the unit, and I do not want to be holding out for something that is not there.

I was up there last weekend and found a nice 2pt but that was it. Think they are still coming down and need it to snow.

Huntinfoo, I had the late tags couple of years ago. It was a year of late snow and the deer were not grouped up like I expected. I passed 2 different bucks in the 180s mid season. Those were the biggest bucks I saw all season. The following year the snow came early and I saw several pics of giant bucks killed. My group of hunting buddies have had this tag 5 different times since 2008 and have killed some really nice bucks but never a true giant.
