Deep, deep forks... Eye guards a bit weak though. Must've been a last day buck?

Holy hot tomato paste.
but main beams are a little short....Just kidding.

Congrats to hunter, Super Great buck.

A true stud for sure.

I do love one aspect of social media these days - you see pics the day something hits the dirt!

Holy forks! I think pufftuffly might be thinking of ulmer. I hope it was just some random dedicated hunter that got that buck. And by the way pufftuffly, your handle is hilarious.

This is one photo oF a trophy buck that you won't say, "it's been photoshopped" or " that thing scores closer to 205.". That HODAD is truly a monster in every way possible. I guess it could be a little bit wider. This could be the most impressive buck of the year. I'm a nontypical type of a guy, but I'd shoot that buck over the recent 264" AZ Gallo buck any day. Again, congrats.

Shoulda Let Him Grow one more Year!

Looked to me like it is an archery buck out of 231 if its the same guy. Helluva buck.

Plus, he's got an archery elk tag to boot.

Ulmer, that's it.

Lol thanks.

Ulmer is an awesome hunter and regularly "gets it done" on trophy bucks. Frankie Cheeney is just an "average Joe" kinda hunter like the majority of us. Great to see him get what is probably the biggest buck of his life. He is also an outstanding member of the Pioche community, and does a super job year in/year out putting on Nevada Safe Hunter classes. Kudos to you and your family/support group! Outstanding!

...don't get overly exited...let's wait till it is stripped and entered. We've been here how many times before?????????????

I would hope that the hunter would not choose to strip the velvet off of that buck. No need to, and that velvet looks gorgeous. P&Y has category for velvet anyway.

Is that what you tell the ladies about your "short comings", Homer? Don't want to get their hopes up?

Don't care about the score...

That's a great buck, and undoubtedly a great hunt to remember. Congratulations!

Was interesting to me how much it shrunk. Eastmans had the score after the 60 day drying period at 210" net. Then panel scored at 205 5/8". Thing shrunk almost 10 inches from when it was killed. Seems like a lot to me. Maybe the panel scorers are just way more strict on where they start their measurements but either way glad it's a new record from an average Joe Hunter.

Remember, this buck was arrowed in velvet and was 'green' scored prior to the proper drying period......which doesn't really mean anything when throwing out numbers. Once it was stripped and dried properly, at room temperature, for 60 days, it was officially measured.....and for the record, there really is no 'more strict' on where to start measurements.....only the CORRECT location to begin. :)

Based on the initial official measurement, it was large enough to merit a special panel this past weekend (at the Pope and Young Convention in St. Louis) for verification, as it surpassed the current world record typical mule deer for the Pope and Young Club. (You can watch the video on the Pope and Young Club's Facebook account) I was on that panel, as well as Richard Hale (B&C Records Chairman) and Ken Witt (P&Y Records committee member). It was administered/oversaw by the P&Y Records Chairman, Ed Fanchin. At the end of the special panel.......the buck ended up at an amazing 205 6/8". No less and no more.....it is what it is.......a GIANT buck that deserves recognition. It was a pleasure to measure this buck and verify the final score.. Big time congratulations to the hunter!

Decided to do a new post...not only is he a new STATE record, but OFFICIALLY new #1 Pope & Young Archery WORLD RECORD buck! Check it out!

I'm not questioning the scorers as you scored my deer ;) but I was under the assumption the eastmans score sheet that was published was the bucks score after the 60 day drying period. They green scored him at 214" or whatever it was and then after 60 days an official scorer came up with the 210 inch score and this week the panel scored him at 205 6/8". Would he continue to shrink even after the 60 day period?

Yeah, I hear ya, amigo.......not sure if Eastman's used the 'correct' score sheet or not. I will say that a buck arrowed that early in the year (velvet), 5" of shrinkage is not unheard of. Yours was killed in the late season, months out of velvet, where minimal shrinkage occurs, IMO.
