This year was been a fun year for hunting. I was unsuccessful in drawing a deer tag, so i was able to hunt with my best friend and his family. I love being a spotter and looking for the deer. I can usually find them and keep an eye on them as my friends go get after them. After a good fun elk hunt at the beginning of October the deer hunt couldn't come quick enough. I love the deer hunt way more than the elk hunt. Hunting for me is being with great friends and family enjoying the great outdoors. Saturday morning comes around and my best friend had to be a football game with his younger son. So i took his oldest boy out first thing. We get up to where we were going to be hunting. I get there and begin spotting. Saw one nice buck sneaking down through a field. well as luck would have it hunting we were not able to seal the deal on this buck. We hunted later that night and was only able to find a big bull elk. Sunday morning rolls around as we pulled up to the area we are going to hunt. I begin seeing deer and i see a nice buck again sneaking down through some trees. My buddy, his wife, and oldest son go after them. He disappeared and i see two more smaller bucks. I texted him saying there is a buck on the upper right of this clearing that his wife should shoot. Well she pulled the hammer down and shot a different buck. This was her first time hunting, she got her hunter safety this year to hunt with us, and her first kill. She made a great shot even thou it wasn't the deer i was trying to get her to shoot. None the less we were able to get it cleaned back to the side by side and back to breakfast at 1030. We ended up seeing 9 different bucks in this area. Mostly smaller buck but hey they were bucks.

The next morning it is raining really bad. We happen to be in my side by side when it started to rain, we decided this isn't going to be very fun to be soaking wet so we drove back to my buddies cabin got in the truck and came back up. Get back up there later but the rain lifted a little bit. We get to one spot we were going to hunt and there are two other vehicles there looking over the few areas we hunt so we decided to go look at a different area. We get to this area and i begin to glass and i see a deer up at the very top in some cliffs. I notice that he has some nice horns and we decide to get the spotter out. We looked him over a whole 30 seconds before we say yep he is the one. I sit on the ridge with the spotter and keep an eye on him. My buddy, his wife, and son make the 2.5 hour hike up. They texted me about 30 min before getting up there if he was still there. I respond yes. Then after a few minutes the rain and mist began rolling in. I am not able to see that far anymore due to the mist and a cloud rolling in. The next thing i hear is shot up in the canyon. I knew that was his boy shooting. Then i hear an other shot. To make this long story shorter the cloud lifts and i look through the spotting scope as they are hiking up the other side of the canyon. Yep they connected and got the deer. I watched through the spotter as they dragged the deer down to the road and able to come pick me back up. He ended up making a great shot in tough conditions.

When we got him back to the cabin all of the kids decided to call him batman because of the black above his eyes looks like the batman symbol.

Thanks to my best friend and his wife for letting me tag along on a great hunt and share this experience with your family. Congrats to Nick for making a great shot on an amazing deer. What a wonderful hunt. Got to love the Wasatch.

Wow nice story and great bucks, nice superwoman stance after the shot. Careful if this was the NFL you might get a penalty for excessive celebration lol nice and with family what a hunt

Great story....congrats to the wife on her first deer. Looks like the boy showed her up a bit. LOL. The only place she can go from here is up though. Congrats to them for having a good time. That's what it's all about.
