He's a good looking buck. What do you think this buck would score? How wide is he?

LAST EDITED ON Aug-27-17 AT 04:35PM (MST)[p]26"... 173 2/8"

I have his twin brother on my wall...

"Therefore, wo be unto him that is at ease in Zion!" 2 Ne. 28: 24

28 3/4" wide. Net 189 5/8. Gross 193.

Hmmm Why do I think he is way better then everyone else.

I must be off like always.

LAST EDITED ON Aug-27-17 AT 08:25PM (MST)[p]At first glance I was thinking mid 160's close to 24" wide or little less. The more I look at him and add up the inches I think he scores a little better. I'm guessing 26" spread with gross score of 177".

25 1/2 inches; 160-165, depending on his main beam (hard to judge from the front). I like the mass in his bases, and would be happy to shoot him and report the score. GPS coordinates?

Slight turn of the head, I think he about 173 or close to it spread about 25"

looks like a younger buck, small head, not many battle scars, ears look good.

25 inches wide 175 gross.

Good potential.

Well, when I saw this buck I thought he was one of the best of the year. I was confident he'd break 180. But after this post I was questioning myself on his size, but I stuck with my guess and went in search. Got him.
I measured him tight, down to the eighth and no rounding up. 183-184 is what he was. He did break about 2-1/2 to 3 inches off a couple tips rolling down the hill, so my measurement was 180-6/8. I couldn't find the broken tips in the dirt.
25-1/2 inches wide.
He's one of the best I could find this year.
So there you go......

I saw a picture of it from Gary Fralic. Some guy's killed some toads this year. Especially the 3 guys on the front cover of Gary's bucks taken this year. I was in there this morning elk hunting.

Nice buck. Its awesome when you can pick a buck early on and then make it happen on that buck. Interesting that so many had it smaller than what it really is.

Sweet, thanks for sharing. It's always educational to try and judge a buck and then find out what he scores. Clean 180 buck very nice.

I am no real scorer, but one thing I Have observed: Like this buck, those racks with deep forks always score better than they look at first glance. That is why I can't see the "Henry's buck. would you" scoring as much as many said: he did not have good, deep forks.

LAST EDITED ON Sep-20-17 AT 08:54PM (MST)[p]Congrats, pretty buck!

Looks like Solutude pretty much nailed it:
"26" 181 gross
Looks like he may have another inch to go on his backs."

I had him in the 170s and that would still be my guess after the field photos, deep forks takes the cake again!

Curious how long his main beams are? I think that is where I underestimated him.

I actually added my numbers wrong on the mountain and shorted his left side by 2 inches. Here are my measurements.

Beam - 23-1/8
G2 - 16-7/8
G1 - 1-3/8
G3 - 10-5/8
G4 - 10-1/8
H1 - 4-4/8
H2 - 4-1/8
H3 - 4
H4 - 4
------
78-6/8

Beam - 23-6/8
G2 - 18-4/8
G1 - 2
G3 - 12
G4 - 11-4/8
H1 - 4-4/8
H2 - 4-1/8
H3 - 3-6/8
H4 - 3-6/8
-------
83-7/8

Inside - 20-1/8

Total - 182-6/8

1-6/8 and 1 broke off a couple tines

Any guesses on how old he was? The biologist took teeth and said results should be available in a few weeks. I'm guessing 5-6 years old.

That's a real nice buck Founder, well deserved. You definitely put in the time to give yourself the best chance for success. Congrats.

Roadless Hunter is right on. I am almost certain that Buck is 3.5 and a future 200 inch typical. I have him on one of my trail cams. No way he is over 4.5 That is a beautiful young buck that could have been something special.

That's a nice looking buck Founder. Congrats. I'm going to guess he's 4.5 yrs old. It'll be great to find out and let us know. I don't see those types of bucks much hunting Region H, and I'd take him too unless I just knew for sure there was a bigger one around and had the time to hunt.

He also looks younger to me. His body and face just don't looking like an older buck to me. I'm guessing 4.5 years old. Age is always difficult to judge though. I wouldn't be too surprised if I was wrong on the age though. Great looking buck. I underscored him by about 5". Unless I had found something bigger while scouting I would be very happy with a buck like that on any hunt.

Dang he grew 9" on me from scoring to taking time. LOL
